Wear parts most LowRider owners reorder

Aztec's maintenance schedule and warranty name pads, pulleys, belts and engine tune-up parts as wear items. These are the ones that fit every size; belts, pads and pad drivers are size-specific, so pick your size in the body assembly list.

Your machine

How to tell which you have
  • Measure the pad: the LowRider comes in 21 in (54 cm), 24 in (61 cm) and 27 in (68 cm) pad sizes. The bigger sizes are also longer and wider: 44 in, 47 in and 50 in (112, 120 and 127 cm) long, and 23.5 in, 26 in and 29 in (60, 66 and 74 cm) wide.
  • Read the product ID: the middle number of Aztec's product ID is the pad size, for example 070-24-LR for the 24 in.
  • Many parts fit all three: the size only changes the body assembly, belt, pulley, dust control plate, dust skirt, pad driver assembly and Aqua pads. The handle, fuel system and engine lists don't split by size.
  • Older machines: if your serial number ends in 0002672 or lower, your LowRider takes a different wheel (156-6-213P). Aztec says the wheels and brackets are not interchangeable.

How to read this list

Our part numbers are the Aztec number with AZ in front, so Aztec 212-1 is AZ212-1. Each line shows the item number on the drawing. Lines tagged 21 in, 24 in or 27 in fit only that pad size. Blue part numbers open the part page. Lines marked Call to confirm part are not listed online yet; call 800-440-6723 and we will source them. Prices were current on ; your cart always shows the current price. Have your machine serial number ready when you call.

New to your Aztec LowRider? Start here

Set up, run and look after your LowRider. Everything here comes from Aztec’s owner’s manual, rewritten in plain steps, with the parts you need linked to the list above.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

1Check it before every start

  1. Park on a level surface. Turn the engine switch off and close the propane tank valve.
  2. Look around and under the machine and engine for oil leaks and damage. Make sure all shields and covers are in place and all nuts, bolts and screws are tight.
  3. Check the oil level and the air filter element (AZ309-11013-7049). Do the first oil change after the first 8 hours of use.
  4. Soap-test the tank, lines and connections every time you fill or connect the LPG cylinder (AZ293-20#STLMF). Repair any leak before you run the machine.
  5. Screw the tank coupler (AZ152-700) together by hand. Never use a tool on the tank connection.

2Change the pad

  1. Turn the engine off and close the propane tank valve. Never tilt the machine back while the engine is running.
  2. Tilt the machine back on a flat surface and secure it. Never tip it on its side.
  3. Unscrew the pad-centering ring, take off the old pad and center the new pad on the pad driver (AZ070-21-PD / AZ070-24-PD / AZ070-27-PD). Put the ring back on.
  4. Never flip a pad: keep the same side down for its whole life. The centering ring mark shows the down side. Don’t run a damaged or disintegrating pad; it causes excess vibration.
  5. Set the machine back down level before you start.

3Start burnishing

  1. Set the handle to a comfortable position and lock it with the pin.
  2. Open the LPG tank valve by turning it counterclockwise.
  3. Set the throttle to SLOW and turn the key to START. Don’t run the starter more than 10 seconds at a time.
  4. Once it starts, move the throttle to the speed you want. Follow the machine at a moderate walking pace and keep moving forward: staying in one spot for more than a few seconds burns the finish.
  5. To change pad pressure, move the wheels forward to take weight off the pad or backward to add weight.

4Shut down, clean up and store

  1. Close the tank valve (turn it clockwise), then turn the key off. Take the key out whenever you leave the machine.
  2. Tilt the machine back, secure it and check for loose nuts and bolts. Tighten them as needed.
  3. Now and then, shake out the foam hat engine dust filter (AZ186-271964), rinse it with water and mild detergent, squeeze it out and let it air dry. A dirty dust filter can make the engine overheat.
  4. Clean the air filter, then set the machine back level.
  5. Let a hot engine cool at least 15 minutes before you load the machine on a vehicle. Take the propane tank off and store it outside in a secure, well-ventilated area.

Common Aztec LowRider parts questions

How do I change the pad on an Aztec LowRider?

Turn the engine off, close the tank valve and tilt the machine back. Unscrew the pad-centering ring, center the new pad on the pad driver and put the ring back on. Never flip a pad.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

How often do I change the oil on a LowRider?

After the first 8 hours, then every 50 hours. Change the oil filter every 100 hours. The engine takes 1.8 US qt (1.7 L) with the filter removed.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

How do I change the pad pressure on my LowRider?

Move the wheels. Forward takes weight off the pad and backward adds weight. You may need this for different floor finishes, or for aluminum versus steel propane tanks.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

What propane tank does the LowRider use?

A 20 lb (5 gal) vertical vapor-withdrawal cylinder with an overfill protection device. Aztec says other cylinders, including liquid-withdrawal ones, are dangerous and void the warranty.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

What is the difference between the 21 in, 24 in and 27 in LowRider?

Pad size, pad speed and some body parts. The 21 in runs 2,092 rpm, the 24 in 1,850 rpm and the 27 in 1,700 rpm, and each size has its own body, belt, pulley, dust plate, dust skirt, pad driver and pads. Pick your size above the parts list to see only your parts.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

Does an older LowRider take the same wheel?

Not always. If your serial number ends in 0002672 or lower, Aztec says you need a different wheel from the one in this list, and the wheels and brackets are not interchangeable.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

Can I scrub floors with the LowRider?

No. Aztec says the LowRider is not designed for scrubbing. It is made for buffing and polishing VCT and concrete floors, and its low 3 3/4 in profile lets it reach under racks.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌

Notes on this parts list

Places where Aztec's drawings, parts lists and text disagree, and how this page handles them. If you are unsure, call 800-440-6723 with your serial number.‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍

  • Aztec prints a footnote under the body parts list: if your LowRider serial number ends in 0002672 or lower, you need a different wheel, 156-6-213P, and the wheels and brackets are not interchangeable. That number is not a line in the list, so it is not in the table on this page. Call us to confirm it.
  • The 21 in and 27 in pulleys (body item 7) are printed as 172-MB65*1 and 172-MB88*1, with “*1” as part of the number. We show them as printed; call to confirm before ordering.
  • The engine drawing (page 33) shows callouts 19 and 21, but the engine parts list on page 34 skips items 19 and 21. They are not on this page.
  • The body drawing (page 29) numbers its callouts 1 to 18, then 28, 29 and 30. Items 19 to 27 are not used. The dust skirt hardware (item 9A: bolts, lock nuts, fender washers and spacers) has no callout on the drawing.
  • Callout 29 on the body drawing has two leader lines, to parts above and below the pad. Aztec lists one line for item 29: BIG MOUTH PAD GRAB BLUE, quantity 1.
  • 070-DC-BAG is listed twice in the handle list: as EXTRA DUST BAG under item 2 and as DUST BAG, item 23. 164-22834 is the WHEEL LOCK NUT in the body list and the 3/8-16 LOK NUT in the handle list.
  • The footnote to item 30 calls it the “Pad Drive Assembly”; the line itself is PAD DRIVER ASSEMBLY. The burnishing pad is not included.
  • The before-operation checklist (page 10) says to check the air filter element on “pg 32”. Page 32 is the fuel system; the air filter is on the engine pages 33 and 34.
  • Starting the engine: pages 15 and 26 say to turn the key to START, while page 16 says to push the “START” button. The handle list includes a key switch with key.
  • Pad removal: page 15 says to turn brushes clockwise to remove, while the belt steps on page 16 say to turn the pad driver counterclockwise to remove it. Page 11 says to unscrew the pad-centering ring to change a pad.
  • The maintenance meter flashes every 25 hours as an oil reminder (page 19), but the oil-change steps and schedule (pages 21 and 22) say every 50 hours after the first 8. This page follows the schedule.
  • The manual gives a 3 3/4 in profile (page 12); the spec sheet says 4 in (10 cm). The manual gives a sound level under 89 dB(A) (page 12); the spec sheet says 80 dB.
  • The spec sheet lists the engine warranty as 2 years/500 hours; the owner's manual warranty page says 2 years from the engine manufacturer.
  • Aztec names 186-271964 “FOAM HAT FILTER KW” in the engine list and “Debris Filter (Foam Hat)” in the maintenance kit, and 309-11013-7046 “PRE FILTER CLEANER” and “Pre Filter (Foam Hat)”. Both numbers are on this page as printed.
  • Descriptions are copied as Aztec prints them, including footnote marks (* and **) and spellings such as 1/4- STOVER LOK NUT.
