“The Phenom 18 is a dual-motor upright, and that is the main reason to pick it over a single-motor machine. One motor is dedicated to suction while a separate 1/4 HP motor spins the brush at 5,000 rpm, so brushing power doesn't depend on how hard the vacuum side is working. The 18-inch path covers a lot of carpet per pass in offices, hotel corridors and classrooms.
It is built for daily use. If something jams the brush roll, the brush motor shuts off to protect the machine, the brush comes out without tools, and the brush height adjusts for light or deep vacuuming. A telescoping wand, 5-foot hose and on-board tool kit take care of edges, curtains and upholstery, and the 50-foot cord releases quickly from its wrap.
Two things to know before choosing it. It is a dry carpet machine, so it is not the right tool for buildings that are mostly hard floors. And the standard filter is Minuteman's Fibro filter; if your facility needs HEPA exhaust filtration, add the optional HEPA filter.”
Separate motors for suction and the brush.
The Minuteman Phenom 18 is a corded, dual-motor commercial upright that brushes and vacuums in one pass across an 18-inch (45.7 cm) cleaning path. A 1000 W vacuum motor handles suction at 104 CFM, and a separate 1/4 HP brush motor turns the brush at 5,000 rpm. Brush height adjusts for aggressive or light vacuuming, and the brush changes without tools.
For safety, the brush motor shuts down if the brush roll clogs. A telescoping wand, 5-foot suction hose and on-board tool kit make it possible to vacuum curtains, upholstery and furniture. The standard Fibro filter has a nano-crystal coating, and Minuteman offers a microfiber bag, an active-carbon motor filter and a HEPA exhaust filter as options. It is for dry carpet only and is ETL listed.
