Set up, run and look after your EH2. Everything here comes from Tennant's EH2 operator and parts manual, rewritten in plain steps, with the parts you need linked to the list above. The sell sheet is used only for the spec notes.
1Fill it and plug it in
- Before each use, check that the machine, hoses and wand are clean and complete. Make sure the spray tips (TN4198214) are tight and the ball float screen in the recovery tank is clean.
- Close and tighten the recovery tank cover (TN4198033). Screw the cap onto the drain hose (TN4198027).
- Fill the solution tank with 15 gal (57 L) of clean water from a garden hose or bucket. Never use water hotter than 120°F (49°C).
- Turn off all switches. Plug the two power cords into properly grounded outlets. Do not connect both cords to the same circuit.

2Connect the wand and prime the pump
- With all switches off, connect the solution hose (TN4198178) and the vacuum hose (TN4198179) to the machine and the wand.
- Never connect the solution hose while the pump or heater switch is on.
- Put the wand in a bucket or tub. Turn the pump on at the control panel.
- Press the wand lever and spray until no air comes out with the water, about 2 to 3 minutes. Then turn the pump off.

3Clean the carpet
- Pre-spray the carpet with an approved detergent from a pump-up sprayer.
- Set the heater switch to high heat (II) or low heat (I) and wait two minutes for the heater to reach operating temperature.
- Turn on the pump and vacuum switches. Work an area about 4 × 4 ft (1.2 × 1.2 m) in V strokes and spray on the back stroke.
- Let go of the trigger about 4 in (10 cm) before the end of each stroke. Go over the area with a vacuum-only stroke before you move on.

4Finish and drain
- Turn off all switches. Hold the wand lever to release the water pressure before you disconnect the solution hose.
- CAUTION: When disconnecting the solution hose coupler, wear protective gloves to avoid a burn hazard.
- To drain the recovery tank, hold the capped end of the drain hose above the machine and take the cap off.
- Lower the drain hose over a drain or a bucket and let the tank empty.

What water temperature can I put in the Tennant EH2?
No hotter than 120°F (49°C). Fill the solution tank with up to 15 gal (57 L) of clean water. To increase heater efficiency, fill the tank with warm water, but never above that limit.

What pressure does the EH2 spray at?
Tennant rates the EH2 at 200 psi (13.8 bar). The spec table lists the pump itself at 220 psi (15.16 bar).

How often should I descale my EH2?
After 80 hours of use. Flush the solution lines, pump and heater with a descaling solution such as white vinegar, soak the spray tips, then flush with clean water.

Why did my EH2 stop picking up water?
Check whether the recovery tank is full: when it is, the ball float screen shuts off suction so the tank can't overflow. Empty the tank. Too much foam can stop the screen from working, so always use defoamer.

Can I use an extension cord with the EH2?
Yes, if it is 12/3 gauge and no longer than 40 ft (12 m). Don't use additional extension cords with the machine.

Which accessory tools fit the Tennant EH2?
Tennant's accessory guide lists the 13 in stainless steel and titanium carpet wands, the 5 in hand tool, the 3 in crevice tool and the upholstery tool. The titanium wand needs the 100 to 250 psi spray tips that come with each new wand.
